The City?began using the internet to sell surplus items a couple of years ago and we?ve never looked back.

The internet has proven to be a great way to drum up business for City property that has passed it?s expiration date but still has some life left in it or was confiscated from a drug bust or some other crime related seizure.??

In the latest cycle of surplus property sales online?the City sold 53?lots of items that generated nearly $24,000 in?sales revenue.? ?

It turns out that in-state purchases still predominate (82% of the revenues from in-state sales) but the out of state purchases are growing (up to 18%).

Overall, vehicles comprised 57% or $13,765.05 of the sale receipts.

This year, the City also went into the on-line bidding with the City of Ravenna to try to have even greater critical mass of items which would hopefully translate?into?more bidders and better prices.? It seemed to work?well and?now Kent and Ravenna are?inviting as many of the neighboring cities?as possible to join in on the next round of surplus sales.??

Here?s a chart of what was sold, how much it sold for and where it was bought from.? Interesting tid bits.? ?
